All around the US people buy ad own these animals as pets. They buy them from backyard breeders, auctions, etc.. Then when the baby grows up they dump it on a sanctuary. Visit this YouTuber: BigCatRescue and this one: TurpentineCreek you will larn more about it.

Yep, you are right. Unfortuneately that is only in the ideal dream wordl, . I have seen so many of these cats taken in by REAL sanctuaries out of people's back yards as pets. Those poor cats were never fed right or given enough room to exercise. sad sad sad sad If they can't be in the wilds, they are least need proper care and enough food, water and room to at least enjoy their lives and not in cramped backyard cages.

I don't know anyone who owns a lion privately, but I think it should be illegal. Lions are definately wild animals and belong out in the wild

I agree the average person should never take on any pet they cannot care for, dogs are done the same way. No one ever accused us Americans of having common sense though. Search Kevin Richardson Lions here on youtube, you'll see his properly cared for pride of 80 lions.
